SuitUP™ Blitz
Welcome to SuitUP™ Blitz
Objective:
The goal of SuitUP™ Blitz is to be the first player to lay down a complete "Blitz" — a run of 8 with one card from each of the 8 suits (Hearts, Diamonds, Spades, Clubs, Arrows, Rainbows, Oranges, and Stars). When you complete the Blitz, you win instantly. The game ends for all other players, who will then count the points in their hands, and the player with the lowest score wins.
Game Setup
- Deck: 112 cards (8 suits: Hearts, Diamonds, Spades, Clubs, Arrows, Rainbows, Oranges, and Stars. Cards numbered 1–10, Wild cards, and Action cards).
- Players: 2 to 8 players.
-
Deal:
- 2 players: 14 cards each.
- 4 players: 9 cards each.
- 6 players: 8 cards each.
- 8 players: 7 cards each.
- The remaining cards form the stockpile, placed face down.
Gameplay Overview
On their turn, players will attempt to create a Blitz — a run of 8 with one card from each of the 8 suits. Players can also use May I? (explained below), wild cards, and action cards to manipulate the game to their advantage.
Turns
- Draw Phase: Draw one card from the stockpile or the discard pile.
-
Play Phase: You can:
- Lay down a run (a sequence of consecutive cards from the same suit).
- Lay down a set (four cards of the same number).
- Attempt a Blitz — laying down one card from each suit (e.g., 3♠, 2♥, 5♦, 7♣, 4⭐, 1⬆, 6🌈, and 9🍊).
- Discard Phase: End your turn by discarding one card to the discard pile. If you discard an Action card, its effect activates immediately.
The "May I?" Mechanic
- Players may ask, "May I?" when they want to take a card from the discard pile.
- The player who is next in turn can either:
- Say Yes, allowing the player to take the card, or
- Say No, and take the card themselves.
- Important Rule: If a player takes a card out of turn (through the "May I?" mechanic), they must also draw a second card from the upside-down pile (if any).
Action Cards
Action cards activate their effects only when discarded. The player who discards an action card must immediately announce which action they are choosing. Each action card introduces exciting twists that can change the course of the game!
S (Skip or Swap)
-
Skip: Skip the next player's turn.
Tip: Use Skip to disrupt an opponent who's close to winning or to buy yourself more time.* -
Swap: Swap some or all of your cards with another player.
Tip: Use Swap to steal a winning card or force an opponent to take on less useful cards.*
R (Reverse or Random Pass)
-
Reverse: Reverse the direction of play.
Tip: Reverse can slow down a strong player or give you an extra chance if you're ahead.* -
Random Pass: All players must pass one random card from their hand to the player on their left.
Tip: Use Random Pass to create chaos and potentially gain a useful card.*
D (Dump or Draw)
-
Dump: Discard your entire hand and draw the same number of new cards from the stockpile.
Tip: Use Dump when your hand is full of cards that don’t fit your strategy.* -
Draw: Draw two extra cards from the stockpile.
Tip: Use Draw to build your hand when you're close to completing a set or run.*
X (Shuffle or Block)
-
Shuffle: Combine the discard pile with the stockpile (down-facing pile), shuffle thoroughly, and create a new stockpile.
Tip: Use Shuffle to disrupt strategies reliant on the discard pile and introduce unpredictability into the game.* -
Block: Prevent one player of your choice from taking their next turn.
Tip: Use Block to delay an opponent who's close to finishing or to control the pace of the game.*
Pro Tip: Choose your actions strategically—action cards are your best tools for creating opportunities or disrupting your opponents’ plans. Use them wisely!
-
Wild Cards: Wild cards can stand in for any card in a set or run but only one be used in a Blitz run. Wild cards are worth 20 points if left in your hand at the end of the game.
The Blitz: Instant Win!
- Blitz Win: A Blitz consists of run of 8 with one card from each of the 8 suits (Hearts, Diamonds, Spades, Clubs, Arrows, Rainbows, Oranges, and Stars). The cards must be laid down in a single turn (e.g., 5♠, 6♥, 7♦, 8♣, 9⭐, 10⬆, J🌈, and Q🍊).
- Instant Win: The player who lays down the Blitz wins instantly. The game ends immediately for all other players, who must count the points in their hands.
- Important Rule: You can only use one Wild cards in a Blitz run - so discard what you don't need so you aren't left with cards worth 20 points in the end.
- Doubling Rule: If the player who completes the Blitz has fewer points left in their hand than any other player, their score doubles.
Scoring
Once the Blitz is completed, the game ends for everyone else, and scoring begins.
- Wild Cards: Worth 20 points each if left in your hand.
- Other Cards: Face value (e.g., 3 is worth 3 points, 7 is worth 7 points, etc.).
- Blitz Doubling: If the player who completes the Blitz has fewer points in their hand than anyone else, their points are doubled.
The player with the lowest score at the end of the round wins.
Strategic Tips
- Complete the Blitz: If you are close to completing a Blitz, prioritize that! The instant win is powerful, but remember that holding onto high-value cards might cost you in the long run.
- Use "May I?" to Block: If you see another player close to finishing a Blitz, you can block them by saying "No" when they ask "May I?" But don't forget if you say "no" you have to take the card yourself.
- Action Cards Are Your Friend: Swap, Skip, and Reverse cards can disrupt an opponent's momentum. Use them strategically to slow down players who are close to completing their Blitz.
- Wild Cards Are Double-Edged Swords: Wild cards help you complete sets and runs, but they carry a heavy penalty if left in your hand at the end of the game. Use them wisely!
Game Variations
- Blitz Race: Every time a player draws a card, the first player to complete a Blitz wins instantly. This makes the game faster and more intense!
- Team Play (2v2): Pair up with a teammate. Work together to complete a Blitz or lay down sets and runs. Communicate and coordinate your moves to achieve victory.
- Time Attack: Set a timer (e.g., 15 minutes). When the time runs out, the player with the longest Blitz run and lowst remaining value of cards wins. If a player completes a Blitz before time is up, they win instantly.
